Finger Independence Exercise WITH NO GUITAR

For your fretting hand: Make sure your fingertips are touching the surface, and have your whole hand relaxed, fingers curled a little. Lift up your first and third fingers at the same time, and hold them up for a few. Then, put them down, and at exactly the same time you put them down, lift up your middle and pinky finger. Repeat and do this whenever you are bored at school, in line, at work, wherever there is a flat surface.

I use to not be able to do this and I was barely able to lift my ring finger at all. Now I can do this fast no problem. And I was born with the most retarded fingers ever (took me a month to learn how to do the live long and prosper thing, to this day I can't bend my pinky by itself, and my fingers are way shorter than they should be in proportion to my hand)

Moral of the story is to not give up! If I can get it anyone can!
