Before Steve became better known as half of a musical "act" with his wife Eydie Gorme, he had already established himself as a great pop vocalist, and "Pretty Blue Eyes" is evidence of this...a Top Ten charter from December of 1959.

  • One of the best songs I've ever heard, I'm only 19 but I love 50's and 60's music, from Little Richard, Buddy Holly, etc to The Beatles, The Who, etc... . I'm from Lima, Peru, sorry for my english. What a great, wonderful, romantic song. Love it!!

  • @Whiskyvodka19 Your English is a lot better than my Spanish and that I assure you. Thanks for the note....Lanny (Nocaro on YouTube)

  • Saw Steve & Edie in concert a couple of times back in the 90's...they were excellent! What I never understood...and don't to this day...is why he didn't sing any of his 60's tunes like this one...and "Footsteps"...and "Go Away Little Girl"...only sang "Portrait Of My Love"...all great. That being said...having worked in clubs and lounges (never at his level)...it is a singer's right to not sing songs for which they are known...or to speed them up or slow them down...Tunesmith

  • @tunesmith09 Well, I think I would have been a little disappointed as well had I been with you at this concert, but you're right and I'm reminded of Rick Nelson's lesson in his "Garden Party", but that still doesn't soften the disappointment....Nocaro

  • Quality. It imbedded in my brain in the 50's and I still love it beyond compare. Thanks Steve.

  • escucho estas canciones, y me hubiese encantado vivir mi juventud en esos tiempos.

  • @owensclock back in the 50`s the common chord structure theme was for instance was cmaj- am-fmaj-gmaj- It was in so many many songs. not just those two.

  • @Whiskyvodka19 you are an amazing young person, i`m 60 years old i grew up listening to and playing (i`m a musician) this music. You truly must have lived in another life back in the 50`s and 60`s. great music.

  • A great song by Steve Lawrence! He also had a song called "lovely One," but i can't seem to find it anywhere. Anyone know where I can find it?

  • My baby has pretty blue eyes. Love you so much!

  • @Whiskyvodka19 You are awesome... Thanks for your great perspective, that time has no bearing on whether music is great... ^_^

  • @Whiskyvodka19 your english is perfect mamacita

  • If You play Steve's recording of Pretty Blue Eyes and Frankie Avalon's Venus back to back I think you'll hear some similarities. They are both from 1959 and both feature muffled guitars and angelic sounding singers in the background, probably

not by accident. I've always loved this tune. Memories of the 7th grade for me.

  • I knew my father was in a good mood when he hummed or sang this song to us kids...

  • @Whiskyvodka19 Hey thats ok my Latino Brother. I'm 32 and love this music too. I been listening to this mucis since I was about your age...actually even yournger. Maybe about 10 or so. I have a huge collection of this type of music on 45's that I have gotten throughout the years. I play those records very often. My favorite have to be the mid 50's to early 50's. I'm a huge Buddy Holly fan and not to mention Little Richard too :) Everytime I hear this music it makes my soul come alive with joy!
