  • Very powerful, tragic and haunting, they were brave men who fought heroically for thier country. We will never know the horrors they had to endure. My great grandfather was just a child at the time, but he fought in The Second World War instead. This is a beautifully made tribute to those heroes, thankyou

  • @ArthurWellesley1769 I'm so pleased that you liked it. Thank you. =]

  • Colt3ninjas this is just Amazing... one of the best Videos I have seen here on youtube... It almost brought tears to my eyes as i started to think of my boys who died in Iraq.... Thank you for a Beautiful put together video!!

  • I am extremely honored for the comment you wrote for my video. It was heart-clenching to put up a tragic video such as the one I have made, and I can only imagine how harder must it be for you to see, considering that you can personally relate to it. I highly value your comment. Your sons, undoubtedly, were great heroes of this nation, and personally I think you are, too, for bringing them up to become the men that they were. Thank you. :)

  • very touching. As a man writing my own war book It's sort of inspiring as well...one of the main themes I'm running with is "what really IS worth fighting for" The answer is very little...and even fewer things are worth dying for. Your little movie puts a lot of emphasis on the brutality and futility of war in my opinon. 5 stars because I can't give any more. well done.

  • That's very nice of you to say that. :) I'm deeply happy to hear my video inspired a writer like yourself. In return, it motivated me to do more stimulating videos in the future. I'm truly touched by your wonderful comment and it warmed my heart tremendously. Thank you very much.

  • This must be one of the sadest films i've ever seen on tv. (film? programme) I remember my great great grandfather telling me about when he joined and how, out of his 7 friends he was the only one left after little more than a month. It's far from pintless, these young men beleived in their country, they made it what it was. It's all changed and i'm happy they are not around to see it because it'd break their hearts. Great video 10*'s!

  • @Ericman2043 No, John's nickname which was given to him at an early age by his father, was Jack. His name was in fact John.

  • @Ericman2043 No, his name was John. The nickname was 'Jack', which was given to him when he was little, by his father Rodyard Kipling. Hope this is of help to you.

  • @baz20881 do you mean jack?

  • John's death here is not at all accurate. The 2nd Battalions objective on the 27th September 1915 was to take the Chalk Pit Wood and then the Chalk Pit. After taking both of these, then Puits 14. 'B' Company was pinned down in the Chalk Pit. As the attack recomensed, John was hit. John was seen in great pain from an wound in the face , staggering back the way 'B' company had come from. He then fell inside Chalk Pit Wood. German artillary then obliterated the area, from hill 60.His body was lost

  • at the end of the war a german general said: the british are lions led by donkeys.

  • this is no criticism about the film (I haven't seen it)

    I just want to admit:

when you see such scenes you always think: the other side killed so much people, they are inhuman and terrible...

But at the other side there were people killed, too.

(sry for my english,if I made mistakes)
