As part of the 16th Biennale Festival, Vish & I caught a free ferry to Cockatoo Island.

Cockatoo Island is a former imperial prison, industrial school, reformatory and gaol. It is also the site of one of Australia's biggest shipyards during the twentieth century. The first of its two dry docks was built by convicts and was completed in 1857. The island's maritime industrial activity ceased in 1992.

    Dear Del-boy

All of the Sydney Ferries fleet are wheelchair accessable however not all

    wharves are.

The wharves at Darling St Balmain & and Cockatoo Island are

    not wheelchair accessable.

The fares for an adult from Circular Quay to

Balmain and from Circular Quay to Cockatoo island are $5.20 each way so $10.40

    round trip.

  • Dear rm., Delighful presentation; is the island wheelchair using-person accessable, do you think? . Is it partially accessable? . Or is it barred to wheelchair users, excluding the ferry ride. . I am interested to visit seeing that I was brought up accros the water from the island and heard for many years the luncheon, work-ending and etc. siren, from my garden near Elkington Park, Balmain. . Please let me know. Cheeers. from, del-boy.
