Album Country Roads The Best Of John Denver
I am the eagle, I live in high country
In rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky
I am the hawk and there's blood on my feathers
But time is still turning they soon will be dry
And all of those who see me, all who believe in me
Share in the freedom I feel when I fly

Come dance with the west wind and touch on the mountain tops
Sail oer the canyons and up to the stars
And reach for the heavens and hope for the future
And all that we can be and not what we are

Words and music by john denver and mike taylor

  • I love this song sooo much, it talks about two of my favorite birds Hawks (which was my late father's nickname) and Eagles, our national bird!!!!

  • How ironic to meet such a sad demise... I feel this song. Strong words from this little being...

  • @Lisacaroline100 we all need a bit of faith, and you explained faith perfectly. He never promised us that nothing bad would ever happen, only that He'd be there right beside us when it did. some say God has turned His back on us, and frankly that's what we deserve, but is is we who turn our backs on Him. I mean He didn't come down here to suffer and die here for nothing!

  • yes amazing!

  • thumbs up if for the first 14 secs your left speaker had been dead...

  • @Joebob6238 That is very sweet of you. My mom did pass away soon after I wrote that but she lived a long, good life. I was even lucky enough to be holding her hand when she left this world and she was the one that brought me into it, how cool is that? As her child, naturally one is never "ready" to let go no matter how old your mother is. But it was last April and I know she is happy in heaven with her mother. I will see her again someday :-)

  • @8mycrab I will pray for her. I hope she gets better!

  • Thanks so much for this. It still gives me goosebumps to hear this beautiful & way too short song. The video is beautifully done.

  • I was able to watch part 2 of the full length film in High Definition Blu-Ray quality here >> bit.ly\iS6hQ8 << the ending is really sweet!!! :)
