@sparkler1000 ~The presenter's comment "three Scandinavian songs so close to the end" was referring to Sweden, Denmark and Finland; song numbers 17, 18 and 19 in a line-up of 20 songs. It's just a co-incidence those countries appeared together like that, the running order was determined by a draw. Norway was song 4 in the line-up, and newcomers Iceland were song 6 in the line-up.

Visited Finland in 2000 after hearing so many of their Eurovision entries. A marvellous country, the forgotten corner of Europe: a most unusual place to visit and probably one that would surprise many visitors. I have CDs of Katri Helena, Cat Cat and Reijo Tallio. I don;t speak the language but most soothing to the ear. Kiitos paljon!

1986 was time of jury voting. I thing Finland just could not win that time regardless what kind of song Finland sent to the competition. I like this song really much myself too.

really good song, with english lyrics it could have been a winner, not that there's anything wrong with singing in Finnish I hasten to add :)

I agree with you Sparkler, I also had this song as my fauvorite, very touchy song, deserved a much better place

Neither Finland nor Iceland are Scandinavian countries. They are Nordic countries. Scandinavia consists of 3 countries only: Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
I seriously thought Finland would win that year. It's one of the most beautiful ballads ever in the history of Eurovision and sung by a guy with a fantastic voice! If only it had been in English instead of Finnish I think it would've done better. But then again... my taste is always far from the rest of the world
