  • @millriv of course they weren't in the same league, because debussy is one of the most important composers in the music history, a composer who changed the way of thinking the music and who opened roads to XXth century music (we just have to see his influence on stravinsky, bartók, falla, schönberg, berg, messiaen, takemitsu, boulez, benjamin, etc etc etc, even -and more evident- on ravel). ravel is a really very good composer, but his influence in the development of music is not comparable...

  • Thanks for posting but I think you need to stress that it is DEBUSSY who is playing the piano, one of the very few times we can hear his piano playing and thus an invaluable record (no pun intended). Although he was never in the same league as Ravel, to actually hear one of the 20th century's greatest composers actually playing his own music is enthralling.

  • Very amazing... one can see & hear why Debussy was so taken with her. Many thanks, Alec!
