My Futhark is a little rusty and the picture is pretty bad, but it does look like Futhark to me.

And while on the subject, Might and magic IX contain some Futhark that you can actually read.

Are you sure about this? I mean, you'll be losing out on his spellcasting ability HEAVILY, especially his ability to second-cast Body Magic, like Heal.
