Thank you for getting back to me on my last question, it was very helpful. Now I have another.
My current refreshabraille only shows uncontracted braille (grade 1)
Do you know how to change it to grade 2 braille - contracted braille? Is it an option?

The software controlling Refreshabraille18 is what decides if you get contracted or uncontracted braille from the device. It would help to know which software is in use. Most programs default to contracted braille, but if the software starts out in uncontracted mode, there is usually an option somewhere in the screen reader to turn it on. If this is in use with the Braille+, the option is located in Settings/Braille.

You simply hold down the button to the far right AND the button to the far left at the same time. That switches the orientation.

Do you know if the Refreshbraille works on the Mac with VoiceOver?

I just upgraded to the 10.6 version (Snow Leopard), which should have more displays supported. I will be trying it tonight! Thanks for the question!

Ok, this is LeAnna, Chase's teacher. We checked out the Rebreshabraille with my Mac, which has Snow Leopard installed. It worked immediately when we plugged it into the USB port! We were able to use it to nagivate the desktop, the dock and several of the programs I have installed. We will need to become more familiar with VoiceOver to give a better review.

Here is the "official" information from Apple!

Hi LeAnna:

Yes indeed this device is supported via USB and Bluetooth using VoiceOver in Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

I've not had people say that to me, I don't know how often other blind people get comments like that. I to have a vision imparement. What did you expect a blind person to look like?
