@reet12337 do you mean this piece of material on the guitar neck? it's scarf or something like that, it's on the strings (on the first fret) so that the open strings (unnecessary, unwanted) can be muted - as the effect you get only the sound of the strings you pull with your left hand. for this, i personally use a sock ;]
