Firearms Training 2012 - "gunmen" holed up in farmhouse

West Midlands Police officers' tactical and planning skills are put to the test when they confront gunmen taking refuge in a remote farmhouse.

Thankfully, the scenario is a training exercise...the first of many to challenge candidates hoping to join the force's armed response ranks as they progress through our firearms training course.

This is the second of four behind-the-scenes films following 24 students through the selection process.

West Midlands Police Firearms Manager, Chief Inspector Paul Minor, said: "Firing a weapon is always a last resort for our officers which is why exercises like this, ones that hone officers' decision-making and tactical sense, are a key component of the course."
