Ubuntu Xgl Desktop effects woheaaaay

yeahaaa finally got Xgl with FGLRX drivers for my ati radeon X 1600 mobility on the 17" imac

usually the appereance manager says for fglrx drivers "the composite extension is not aviable" and when you try to run "compiz" in gnome-terminal , he says "driver not in whitelist"

so what do you need to get it working? a nice guy from the irc mplayer channel gave me the code =)



sudo apt-get install xserver-xgl
restart x
and then go to the appereance manager and you are able to enable the desktop effects :):):):)

hey i have a question...

when i try to enable effects in the visual effects tab in appearance it says that it could not enable the driver.

could ya help me out?

either try to get unsupported "restricted" hardware drivers or try "envy" to get these drivers.

afterwards you need to get compiconfig-settings-manager and python to get the advanced settings working ;)

I have the same things installed on vista. Workes like a charm :)

We don't have macs here in the Netherlands.
