I cast a bronze plaque for marking an Eagle Boy Scout project. I used a small foundry set up in my garage.

  • Very interesting, and amazing

  • nice forge.you have the plans??

  • nice forge.

  • @scienceguy8 You are correct. I used Dave Gingery's book with a few modifications. The gas valve is connected to a latching relay to remain shut off in the event of a power loss. I used 16 gauge sheet metal for the blower and body shells and I used a commercial refractory mix that has stood up to 20 years of use. It is in need of a re-lining.

  • @TheZizzac Looks like a Gingery gas furnace as designed by the late, great Dave Gingery, author of the "Build Your Own Metal Working Shop From Scrap" series. Google "Lindsay's Technical Books" to find said tomes of knowledge.

  • @JustWonderingHowToDo borax powder

  • What flux do you need to use for bronze prior to casting?

  • dude that foundry is pretty trick! did you make that yourself and if so are there schematics available online?

  • hooray for eagle scouts! IM AN EAGLE SCOUT TOO!
