This third observation by Dave and the boys was initially panned by critics, but is easily one of the best albums in Megadeth's discography. The tone is seething, but not as evil, and overall SFSGSW is a trademark example on how a band performing one style of music was STILL able to instill variety on an album. Critics may have hated it, but I sure don't.

  • To be truthful, I completely agree to this, and I'm going to add to this that So Far, So Good So What has been my music selection for college right now, and I do enjoy every little thing about it every time I hear it. I have the original album on CD, unremastered, and I hope to find all of their other albums on original CD format, not digital.

  • this album was the first metal release i ever heard and i love it now more then i did in the early 90s when i first heard. Mary Jane is a filler but it's a good filler. The opening instrumental is great and hook in mouth is even better.

  • I totally agree with you. I was never really amazed by this album and I normally would skip over it. But now it is my #1 favorite Megadeth album. Just look at my picture.

  • @peoplelikingpeople Do you like punk rock? I'm not saying it's better than the original song but I still like it a lot.

  • great album, but anarchy in the UK is the weakest track on the album, it's filler and I always skipped it

  • I really love the song "mary jane" mostly because of the vocals.

  • Into the Lungs of Hell is fucking epic to the extreme

  • @ImNobody487 I don't know, I actually think Metallica had the strongest debut record of any of the Big Four of Thrash. I think the thing that hurts SFSGSW the most for me is its short running time. Some of the riffs are a bit uninspired, especially compared to Peace Sells, RIP and KIMB, but damnit the album is still solid as all Hell and kicks a ton of ass.

  • @Blackstuff1991 Of course "So Far, So Good...So What?" has a Thrashy feel to it, its was a Thrash album afterall. Riff wise I do think it was the most uninspired of MegaDeth's first four records, but by no means is it a bad album. It kicks pretty damn hard and is a perfect addition to a Thrash fans collection. It's 80's Megadeth...so you know its good.

  • I know "So Far, So Good...So What?" is sort of considered the black sheep of Megadeth's early Thrash discography, but I actually really enjoy the album. SFSGSW has some killer tracks on it and its absolutely a worthy addition to any Thrash fans collection and an essential for any Megadeth fan. Looking back at the album I think it's aged fine and in my opinion is a perfect fit between Peace Sells and RIP. Not quite as visceral as Peace Sells or as developed as RIP, but good anyway. Agree 100%
