That's one of the differences between the two cultures: In Greece it is considered a shame to hide under a foreign power's skirt. What you are saying is not "I'm right, therefore you should respect what I'm saying" it is "I have a great power by my side so you'll have to accept what I'm saying".

I'll tell you this thing about the U.S. it only supports whoever it needs to support. You will not always have them by your side.
