--VIDEO STILL AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE--- Note:- Audio owned by WMG . Cold Chisel "Flame Trees'
---BUY THE ALBUM---
(of course... UT is losing it....if u can't use a 25 yr old song, that was only a hit in Australia, wtf can u use? Well, well....things have changed, now u can use the songs, they just put ads with them...fair enuf and much better!))----stuffin around again, this time to the 'original' song by Cold Chisel which is best known as having been covered by Sarah Blasco for the very under-rated Aussie film 'Little Fish' starring Cate Blanchett. (Yes it's about heroin addiction, the movie, not the song....big surprise there....not!)
That is if you weren't around in 1986 when this was a HUGE hit in Australia.
(flame tree - South Australian tree having panicles of brilliant scarlet flowers) Guess where I live? Yep, South Australia.....how ACDC ever came out of Adelaide, I'll never understand?!

Kids out driving Saturday afternoon pass me by
I'm just savoring familiar sights
We share some history, this town and I
And I can't stop that long forgotten feeling of her
Try to book a room to stay tonight

Number one is to find some friends to say "You're doing well
After all this time you boys look just the same"
Number two is the happy hour at one of two hotels
Settle in to play "Do you remember so and so?"
Number three is never say her name

Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace
Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around

But Ah! Who needs that sentimental bullshit, anyway
Takes more than just a memory to make me cry
I'm happy just to sit here round a table with old friends
And see which one of us can tell the biggest lies

There's a girl falling in love near where the pianola stands
With her young local factory out-of-worker, holding hands
And I'm wondering if he'll go or if he'll stay

Do you remember, nothing stopped us on the field
In our day

Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace
Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around

Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace
Everything within its place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around

  • Cheers mate.

Sure....u can try....am not on-line a lot atm but I'm sure I'll be back once I sort out my latest 'life crisis'!

  • I can see no scars anymore:)

  • They've faded a lot but still there, thank God!

It was that damn cream, I swear.

I like them....I want them....they're part of my 'gender queer' identity.

I don't want to look 100% male and have no scars, tho I do understand that is unusual.

  • @FaceForRadio63 God I'm slow, sorry! Anyway the film Little Fish was released in 2005 and won both an Australian AFI award and I'm pretty sure it won a British 'orange award'?? Is that what they are calling the Baftas now? Cause it's an independent, u should be able to easily find it....I know it got a mention at the Oscars that year too, but cause of all the Lord Of The Rings bullshit! Is definitely worth watching if somewhat depressing, especially cause based on a true story I'm 47 in a week!!

  • Scars are a reminder of what we have fought in the past :-) Looking great Kyle!

"Scars Show Us Where We've Been; They Do Not Dictate Where We Are Going"

  • great video i have felt that way quite a bit lately but i think im finally getting over the hump here is hoping you do the same BIG HUGS

  • Hi , I understand about the scars...but I am not Genderqueer so it is different....

I love the Music notes in the title:)

  • Oh, I know she's not as ANCIENT as you! ;-) (I have no idea how old you are). But she was 17 years old in '86 so it's not a crazy idea. BTW, I'm pretty sure I'm older than you. 8-/

Worst part is I haven't been able to find the movie online in any of my usually reliable (free) movie sources.

  • ummm....don't think she's THAT old? (like I am!!)

The 1986 is for this original song....in the movie it got covered by a woman....slower too. Think it's on here somewhere? Sounds better in the film tho....u know, mood and all that?

  • Ahh, I read the 1986 date in the description area.
