@SDannieG that's true. his sole purpose was to save us. but in the garden, he cried to God and said, "if its your will, take this cup from me" or something. he didnt wanted to die. he didnt wanted to be flogged. but what he wanted, was to obey God. that's why he did it.

@lemilo I just want to say, he died because He wanted to. It was the Father's will but it was also His, the Bible says that Jesus and the father are one. (John 10:30) He loved us so much (John 3:16) that He died willingly to set us free. That's the beauty of the cross.
