This is all true, however, sometimes it is necessary. I have two declawed (front only) cats and they showed no adverse behavioral problems or side effects. They purred and played with me nonstop the day after the procedure and seemed happy. They still use the scratching post believing they still have claws and are very happy. Plus there is no ruined furniture. I don't believe that declawing is "that" cruel if it is done properly. I didn't raise hell when doctors circumcised me

@RiverBirch1967 i guess the thing to ask yourself is..... do you feel bad because of the influence of other people? or because it is something you genuinely want to change? the only way to lose weight (& keep it off) is to be happy & think positively & make realistic, healthy changes & cut yourself some slack (don't beat yourself up when you make a mistake.. & don't give up.. just keep going). There will always be someone unhappy or disapproving anyways, so just do what makes YOU happy.

Your words about being beautiful w/o makeup and dressed as a bum.... I need to learn that as a mantra. I often feel badly about myself now since I gained weight.

@PrettySailorSoldier Also what changed was his idea of what beauty was... all of a sudden he could appreciate a true woman's full figure. I still struggle with self-esteem, but I am realizing that I am beautiful without makeup & even dressed as a bum! And more important than other ppl's viewpoints is that I love myself now. I accept myself.

@RiverBirch1967 @RiverBirch1967 Well, I was made fun of a lot; on a daily basis for about 3 years. So I have never forgotten what that feels like. One of the guys that made fun of me saw me years later & was checking me out & said that I looked good... The joke is on him, because I looked exactly the same as I did back then. Only 3 inches taller and a bit bigger boobs. Same weight & hair.... All that changed was that I now know how to dress & do my makeup to flatter myself.
