Star Trek TNG: Episode 143 Samaritan Snare: Alternate Ending x2

This video contains two alternate endings for the price of one.

Out of all of the characters of The Next Generation. I believe the character that was the most wasted potential was Deanna Troi.

She had the ability to read emotions. This should have made her invaluable in diplomatic situations and in First Contact with other species and could have created some interesting episodes. However she got shafted throughout the series as in very very few occasions did her emotion detection skills ever do anything that actually help the crew get out of the problem. Most of the emotion detection skills was only used to confirm something that Picard and the crew already know.

This episode Samaritan Snare showed this situation at its worst. For once she actually knows something about the enemy that no one else in the crew knew about and were completely deceived and what happens? They ignored it and Geordie La Forge gets into trouble because of Riker's stupidity. In the end Troi was completely useless throughout the series and this was due to bad writing.

The first alternate ending shows what should have happen in this episode and this episode could have ended in less then 90 seconds. The second alternate ending shows what Troi should have done when she realise that her advice are ignored and doesn't effect the way the crew proceeds with things.

HAHA, i more than agree. This episode could have been just that straightforward.

Although i would have preferred a worf option i.e blast the ship to pieces and then beam geordi back. I guarentee sisko would not have taken the aliens' shit for that long nor would even janeway.

I know this is supposed to be the utopian future but there is a case for brute force when face with that level of stupidity.
