Act II. Semele (Rosemary Joshua) reveals her true desire to Juipter (John Mark Ainsley): she wishes to be immortal. It is no small request as it would, literally, kill Semele. Jupiter decides that he must with speed amuse her. Thankfully, this seems to please, and Jupiter is treated to a rather pleasurable take on Now Love that everlasting boy invites!
From the 1997 Semele from the English National Opera (ENO), conducted by Harry Bicket.
