Francis Collins of the Human Genome Project discusses evolution, creationism, Intelligent Design and the harmony that can exist between faith and science. http://www.asa3.org/
Notice Collin's scheme for theistic evolution is purely hypothetical and cannot be tested. It's purely faith-based; the arguments for it are not that good (like the Moral Law argument).
Nonetheless, this is the best anyone has ever really done in attempting to reconcile evolution and Christianity.
I just can't understand how a modern scientist, who by definition relies on hard evidence and peer-review, can be so swayed by the contradiction-laden, physics-defying claims of the Judeo-Christian Bible. A good scientist should be a lot more skeptical. Anyone who declares that "a loving God" is the explanation of those features of the universe that science finds difficult to explain is making an enormous, very unscientific assumption.
A 'dog god' guided the evolution to this point so that humans can take care of dogs....we can't understand this 'dog god' using science because he is outside space and time!!!!!!!!!!!
This is called Theistic evolution. Believe in this 'dog god' as you cann't refute it.
I liked The Language of God a lot and I do agree that it is necessary for human beings with our sets of beliefs (theistic or not) to be open-minded and accept new discoveries & the world of faith. However, we have fundamentalists on all sides, blinded by their conceptions of faith or of atheism for that matter. I appreciate Francis Collin's honesty and clarity. It was necessary to state again clearly that science and religion are separate fields of studies which are both valuable.
Logos = the study of / the pattern of / the logic of / the word
bio = life
So biology apparently now means God did it.
