@tachikoma747 Mate, if you think there's some deeply held bond or synergy between Ireland and Scotland then you're gravely mistaken. The most rabid supporters of Ireland in any given thing are Catholic [Irish] immigrants of Scotland; Scots have no more deeply held affection for Ireland than they do for Wales or England.
There is something so primal and haunting about bag pipes... I have gotten some really odd looks from people when I admit that I love the sound of them, but that is alright because I am not ashamed!
Ok listen if u guys are seriously going to bitch about this both the irish and the scots have been playing this instrument for centuries and I would know because my father was a firefighter in new york, he had buddies in the NYPD, FDNY, and New york city EMS before it changed over to the fire department to take that over so stop ur bitching and just enjoy the culture and the music u guys make sick and by the way I'm Irish so shut your mouth if u don't know what ur talking about
@truefalse I never said it was an American tradition – I said using those customs in New York City was an American tradition. I brought this up when someone suggest the NYPD stop using the bagpipes and highland dress because those things were Scottish. So, you are right, those things are not American, but the employment of those things is.
@222macgregor A scotsman in the John F. Nicoll pipe band told my father "The Scottish are the Irish who could swim." Similar tradition and cultures, can't you enjoy your shared heritage?
