does the magnavox have a USB port on it? if so..can u play movies thru ur USB drive?

Yeah, but I don't want to go through all that hassle. I'll just wait a few weeks until I feel like buying better one. And I also want the Samsung since it's the same brand as my TV.

No all brands are not the same. If your butying anything SAMSUNG the quality is going to be fantastic. It it more pricy but you do get a better result of picture and etc. Now there is some brands that are good but are not as expensive but you have to know that on your own or just personal preference. I had bought a magnavox one 3 days ago and returned it for a Samsung and it looks way better.

Are all brands the same?(like a cheaper brand plays them as good as the most expensive brand). I wanted to buy the Samsung one, but I was short on cash so instead I bought the Magnavox player. I have it connected it with HDMI and looks great.

heres a solution, buy ps3.
u get 1080p upscaling with hdmi. u also get full native 1080p hd video from blu rays, at their best.
it is also updatable, sony regularly update their firmware, meaning thers a good chance u get all the latest blu ray options.
ps3 is also a media centre, where u can share all your photos, HD videos and music from ur computer. so basicly, u can set up your ps3 to access any folder in ur computer e.g my music, and it will come up on the xmb.
