First I must give kudos to YouTube member iwkya1 for his tutorial here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUUhOCEujUI
I have never have played with pelt mapping until I watched his great tuts so check him out.
So I took what I learned a step further. Pelt mapping is my tool of choice now for unwrapping complex geometry. I have a mouth modeled and I want to unwrap the tongue, teeth and other parts of the mouth seperately, but unwrapping the inside of what is essentially a cylinder can be very difficult. Well pelt mapping makes it much easier. Here I am using 3DS Max 2010 with a UVW unwrap modifier applied, that's where you find pelt mapping.
Play with it, there are lots of tool to customize the pelt stretcher making it easy to unwrap virtual anything if not everything. Piece by piece...
Please rate and/or subscribe. I am documenting my learning process and hopefully new comers to 3D software can learn from me as I have from those who lay the path ahead...
You really need to plan your tutorial before you make it and uploaded it. Why try to teach people when your still guessing and getting things all mixed up. i would personally delete this video and start again. You should find your better at it if you scrap the old ideas and start a fresh. Don't forget the whole world is watching your video and do you really want people to remember that you stumbled and mumbled through it?
