@pceri I didn't have that option in my itunes, but once you open a m4r file Itunes will automatically create the "tones" folder.

to anyone having trouble with this, stick with it, it does work, keep in mind your tone file must be under 30 seconds long or it will not show up on your phone. It took me an hour to figure this all out but it did work.

@MegaSpacePeople look up how too "show file extensions in windows" basically you go into folder options and uncheck "hide File Extensions/types". then the file extensions will be shown and you can change the file extension to .m4r.

I did everything right but when I open the ring tones the song is not there even when I disconnect my phone I can't find the song in my list :/ PLEASE HELP!

ok i see the issue here.
answer: open Itune and on the top tab go to EDIT --> PREFERENCES -->on GENERAL TAB tick RINGTONES.
