This is a compilation video of the attacks of 2008 Silver Medalist Jason Rogers of USA. It focuses on his accelerated attack in an attempt to provide an analysis of it. The fist song is "I Want Your Wonderwall" which is a mash up of "Somebody to Love" by Queen, and the lyrics from "Wonderwall" by Oasis, and music from "I Want You Back" by Jackson 5 and the second song is "Another Bridge Down" by Tommy Guerrero.

  • no offense bro, ur new clips are dumb.. It's called good technique... Fencers plan actions, and anticipate the actions of their opponents.. planning on when take slow/small steps, accelerated lunge, all that bullcrap should be done with no effort NOR thinking..

  • you think no thinking should be involved or no thinking is involved? i worked with jason on this video and i think he would disagree with you. where are you on the points list btw? what he is doing got him 3rd in the olympic season. trust me there is at least as much thinking here as there is in chess

  • however, i was aruging that u are talking about theses things as if its the way to win matches...where in fact, planning actions, and anticipating ur opponents actions (display the line, wait until opponent reacts, pull away and make miss, and finish) is what wins matches...do u see my point of view??

  • haha i think we are, in fact, arguing the same thing. i tried to put the gaming aspect into the video but if you dont see it then i am not doing a good job. will be better about it in the next video

  • why do all the related videos have nothing to do with fencing? lol

  • youtube keeps track of what you people decide to watch after you are done watching this video. since it doesnt have enough information to do that it just puts stuff there that has a similar name to the video. youll notice that nearly every one has rogers in the name. once the video gets more hits and people start watching fencing related videos afterwards, the related hits will be replaced with the videos that people watch the most. pretty cool eh?

  • @CyrusofChaos I agree with you, its just fast thinking / Gambling on the way your attack is released !

  • GOD Why the fuck fencers do videos like these?! i'm not doing these and i'm doing nice in fencing without these...

  • @CyrusofChaos yes, i agree... when i started fencing last year, i didnt plan out what attacks i was going to do, but now i take notes of the other fencers and so i would know what to do....you def. have to think it out if you wanna go in the state champ. your videos is what got me into state...thank you, keep on posting! :)

  • very good analysis, you obviously understand the game well

  • really good analysis man

  • Still a good training tool. More! And whosoever mehmeh has challenged, youtube it. A training tool is a training tool.

We've found a wonderful training venue for ALL fencers: the beginner, as well as the 'elite'. The sabre rattling of the replies also provide some somic relief! Good job.

  • I'm an epeeist but I absolutely LOVE these analyzing videos. Thank you so much for your time and effort.

  • These are great and really helpful. It is interesting to contrast what he is doing and what Montano is doing in his trample. Very, very helpful.

My only question is about the music. I like it, but I almost find it distracting from being able to see the action. But maybe that is just me.

  • omg okay wat ever... it doesn't even matter anymore, one day ill see you on the strip

    your very good health.

  • They aren't the same thing at all- even if you can't see the difference between each fencer's preparations and actions, the most telling difference is actually seen by watching the opponent. A key difference is in the amount of ground lost on the strip (by the defender), the distance between the fencers when the moment happens, and the way the defender is allowed to collapse or break distance. I am sorry that you don't see any more here than what's on the surface- these videos are pretty good.
