Primo Levi: Back to Auschwitz (Part 1 of 2). This is a documentary broadcast by the Italian State Television, Rai, in 1983. Captions were added by me. The English translation is by Mirto Stone and was taken here http://www.inch.com/~ari/levi1.html. I just added or modified some small parts that were either missing or slightly incorrect. The interviewer is Daniel Toaff, the son of Elio Toaff, the former Chief Rabbi of Rome.

  • Btw, can someone recognize what musical piece(s) has been used throughout the documentary? I suspect it is some Polish (or Eastern Europe) 20th century composer but could not identify the music. I thought it could be Gorecki's 3rd Symphony but that does not seem to be the case, even though I have to admit I only listened to excerpts of it and not to the whole symphony.

  • @fgrilli I can remove any doubts concerning Gorecki's 3rd Symphony. It is not as I've just listened to it in its entirety :)

  • the 1948 Smith-Mundt Act was meant to protect Americans from the psychological operations (PSYOP) employed by the USA government against enemy nations. But in truth the abusive "holocaust" PSYOP has always been used to victimize Americans the same as the Germans. Untold billions of USA tax dollars have gone to fund "Israel" which was established solely on the basis of the "holocaust" lies. More billions are spent on the bogus "holocaust" museums to further brainwash the primitive Americans.

  • @DudeAbidesNoMore I won't waste my time once more trying to argue with a negationist (or should I better say a Nazi?). I'll just use Primo Levi's own words: "Those who deny Auschwitz are the ones who would be ready to do it again."

  • @fgrilli Just like the Israeli with the Palestinians?

  • @atrenium It was P. Levi himself who said "Everybody is somebody's Jew. And today the Palestinians are the Jews of the Israelis." That said, whatever one might think about the Israel Palestine question (and, for what it's worth, I think Israel is basically wrong there) it is an abomination to belittle or even worse to deny Auschwitz. Being able to distinguish is hard but I try to refuse the temptation of acquitting or condemning en bloc because, in the end, "it's all the same".

  • Thanks for uploading this. I have just read "If this is a man" and "The Truce". Two very moving books, so straight almost dispassionate in description in the first book and with humour in the second. They are profound in their effect especially in his statement that we should not try to explain the Holocaust.

  • Many thanks for uploading this and providing the translation

  • @fgrilli

Do yourself a favour and don't contaminate the comment section of the video you posted with your cynical exploitation of the Holocaust towards advancing your anti-Zionist politics. Spare us this "Palestinians" are somehow "the Jews" of Israel.

  • Big thanks for uploading this. I wish more of the Primo Levi interviews available on YouTube had English subtitles. People like yourself who upload such videos are what make YouTube worth visiting. Thank you very much,

  • @DudeAbidesNoMore to be idiot is not a crime.
