This is part six of John Lennon's complete home demos from between 1975-1980. To understand the abbreviations I am using, please refer to part one:

Free As A Bird, Take 3 (1977, TD)
Turned Out Nice Again (1977, TD) -- In this track, John is messing with backmasking. You may recognize this as the end of the full rendition of Free As A Bird as heard on the first installment of the anthology.
Whatever Happened To...?, Take 2 (1977, TD)

  • .....well he has to I suppose. After all, 'the cats have all been blessed' and you wouldn't want a fly to land on a blessed cat I can tell you. Oh my God, the palarva that would cause.....

  • caption to above photo could read: LENNON PREPARES TO SHOW SON HIS IMPERSONATION OF TONGUE FLICKING LIZARD AFTER HE SPOTS FLY ON WALL.

  • The subsequent video made after John's death and featuring old footage of the group interwoven with a time line of his life, is especially moving to me personally...

    Free at last John....

  • Like countless other songs he demoed, this was never

returned to the moment after it was recorded. It seems to be

written mainly as a guitar and tempo exercise. The fact it has

been written in the third-person probably indicates Lennon

intended it for his planned musical "The Ballad Of John And Yoko".

  • thats exactly what i thought too, until now!! although paul did add a few impressive lyrics to it. 'where did we lose the touch that seemed to mean so much always makes me feel so free...' thats a good line.

  • I was always under the impression that Free as a Bird did not have a middle eight and that the surviving Beatles wrote it. When in fact they just finished the lyrics. This clears things up. Thanks!

  • that last song is really great in particular

  • Great job, Man!
