NPA HITMAN KILLS
Soldier Shot Dead
By Edgar Cadagat
August 15, 2007

A suspected NPA Sparrow hitman shot and killed a soldier, an intelligence operative of the 11th IB, early last night, while relaxing with his wife just outside of their residence in Brgy. 5, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

Shot dead was T/Sgt. Abraham Infante, 52.

Chief Insp. Rosauro Francisco, police chief of Moises Padilla told journalists in an interview that two men on board a motorcycle passed by Infantes house with one of them shooting the soldier.

Infantes wife, Angelita told Aksyon Radyo in an interview that her husband suffered two gunshot wounds, one in the stomach and the other on his neck.
Mrs. Infante, however, said the men were just on foot and when they passed by, one of them whipped out a .45 caliber pistol and shot her husband. The other fired a warning shot.

Infante was brought to the district hospital in La Cas-tellana town but was declared dead on arrival (DOA).

Mrs. Infante said, her husband was shot at close range. She was beside him but was unable to see the gunmens faces as the incident happened so fast.
The scene of the incident is barely 200 meters from the local police station.

Quote:
Press reports in 1999 and in late 2001 indicated that the NPA is again targeting US troops participating in joint military exercises as well as US Embassy personnel. The NPA claimed responsibility for the assassination of two congressmen from Quezon in May 2001 and Cagayan in June 2001 and many other killings. In January 2002, the NPA publicly expressed its intent to target US personnel if discovered in NPA operating areas.

  • this is interesting because this is a home grown method that was developed independantly from any foreign sources, in otherwords they came up with this themselves not learning it from someone else, I could be wrong but from what I'm seeing here it looks very native.

  • @schizoidboy The method strikes me as being somewhere between street thug chic & raw minimalist adaptation. The use of a holster would give the assassin much more control over his weapon, but this little bastard was fast & deadly. The lesson to be learned here is how dangerous sitting still in a car is for the target of an assassin. You have to come to junctions & funnel points when driving. Route awareness, weapon accessability, counter-surveillance & seamless unhindered movement is key.

  • The sparrow units were deadly. I remember clearly when I was still in the philippines in college. Every single day there was a dead cop and his service firearm missing...taken. It did not matter whether the target always changed their daily pattern of living...it was only a matter of time. Like this well known police figure who was a marked man. Their car got stuck in traffic on Nagtahan Bridge one day and met his end when 3 sparrow units closed in on him.

  • Very professional, excellent clip on real world tactical shooting!

  • @schizoidboy I agree. This draw is homegrown. But one american firearms instructor who have a company, I think it is called Black heart, stated in his book that this method is actually was used by the OSS forerunner of the CIA. I guess it is his supposition only. To me this draw is of filipino origin. It came out of ingenuity and being poor to afford ideal accessory to carry a gun.

  • @schizoidboy note and distribute it all you want, but from the way i see it, if and when these people make you a target, the best way is for them not to find you. I don't think you can have a defensive solution for this tactic, its too precise, too fast, and too darn close to even have a reaction. My God 36th of a second? even if you could have seen him draw and you were even half as fast as he is from the time he executes the move, your best chances would be to wound or kill him.

  • The sparrow units also operated quite close to military locations: I lived in Maricaban, Pasay City near Nichols Air Base then. One early morning I have just exited near one of Air Base exit points and I came upon a commotion at the nearest traffic light...people scampering everywhere. An airbase jeep which had just exited the base too got ambushed. A dead serviceman was dangling from the passenger seat..the rest missing probably rushed to medical aid by bystanders.

  • @Gonkafied "You have to come to junctions & funnel points when driving. Route awareness, weapon accessability, counter-surveillance & seamless unhindered movement is key." This tactic is good... Problem is in the Philippines TRAFFIC, slow-moving or standstill has always been the reality...perfect condtions for ambush for the NPA

An At the time I was in the Philippines there was only ONE incident involving a US serviceman stationed at the now defunct Clark US Airbase who got ambushed.

  • @Gonkafied Of course looking at this film suggests that their tricks are being noted and distributed to those to whom they would be a threat too. Incidentally is this a Philippines film with an English translation or is it something made by the US military which had bases there at the time? Moreover was this Sparrow hitman a defector or was he captured?

  • @batangwaray1 .. it was not Joma who did the rectification movement within the party itwas the chamson couple.

  • That is fast
