Kub Han Khuang from xa Chieng Khoang, huyen Thuan Chau (Muong Muoi), tinh Son La, Vietnam.
Kub Han Khuang is like a small musical play organized by the families of the village. Nobody knows how and when exactly Kub Han Khuang had been started. The word "kub" is the singing, the word "han" is the stage, and the word "khuang" means playgound (outside the house). People in the village helped building the stage and weaving the decors (xan ta lieu). Kub han khuang is for young boys and girls who want to meet their soul mates. Before the play begins, the villagers have to make the offerings (foods and wine) to the gods of the land, mountains, and rivers. Mor xen will pray for the young boys and girls to find their true love and happiness. After the offerings, everyone will have lunch together along with music (kub) and wine. The young boys and girls participate in the play have to be good in singing (kub) back and forth. The girls are singing while they spinning and embroidering their silks and are usually from the host village. The leader of the Han Khuang play is called "sao ton khuang"; and she has to be very good with questioning and anwsering the boys in "kub vaai" singing form. The boys are usually from another nearby villages and they have to good with playing music instruments such as pi pub, pi thiu, si sor lor, ting tow, and etc..
