@stryderzer0 Normally a single broken rope out of five would not make a bridge go down, but after many years of zero maintenance those 4 remaining ropes are rusty and weak. They can no longer hold up the bridge
.
BTW the old 1800s bridges were only designed for ~40 years of life. The intent was to tear them down and rebuild them after they wore out. The fact the Brooklyn Bridge has lasted this long is only because of constant maintenance and care
.

well no but the supposed state of the brooklyn bridge in this situation is really dire because of corrosion and weaking to structure so one wire or two are critical to the roadway's life
