My 200th Video!! And what a video!! If you have not been to the Ffestiniog Railway, go next year when it is linked up to the Welsh Highland. On the Bank Holiday Monday I went there the locomotives running were:
-FR Double Fairlie 0-4-4-0 'David Lloyd George' (Newest Double Fairile, built in 1992)
-Hunslet 2-4-0STT 'Blanche' (purchased from Penrhyn Quarry Railway in 1963)
-George England 0-4-0STT number 4 'Palmerston' (Built in 1864 for the Ffestiniog)
-FR Single Fairlie 0-4-4T 'Taliesin' (Newest loco on line, built in 1999)
The Plan I did was:
-11:40 Tan-y-Bwlch (Tan ee bulk) to Tanigrisiau (Tan ee Grizee eye) Hauled by Blanche
-Walk from Tanigrisiau to Tan-y-Bwlch
-15:50 Tan-y-Bwlch to Porthmadog hauled by David Lloyd George (delayed because of points failure I think)
In this video we see the Double Fairlie departing Tan y Bwlch with the first service of the day. Before Blanche arrived you could hear her working hard up the gradient. She arrived, much to our surprise (Merddin Emrys was rostered to do the turns she did but the 1879 built fairlie was not running that day). We head north, thundering through Campbells Platform, then Blanche shows us how good a loco she is by Tackling the steep gradient at the Dduallt (Thee-akhlt) spiral from a standing start with 7 behind her. I am uploading these videos in shorter sections as my computer takes ages to upload long videos
Apologies if you are Welsh and I have mispronounced any of your place names, please feel free to correct me if that is the case.
Great Video, 5 Stars!
