It was intentional. They were alluding to John F. Kennedy, who also pronounced "Ich bin ein Berliner" like "ick". Of course it's not the same accent in Germany, but who outside of Germany knows that? And like already said before, this show is made primarily for the US viewers, who certainly wouldn't appreciate let alone recognize real perfect German. There is no doubt Sheldon could have been perfect in German if he had wanted to ;-)

@MsJuules I'm not sure, if this was intentional or not... Because from Sheldon you would expect perfect German (like everything he does... ;)). So, either, the producers didn't make their homeworks pretty well, or they just didn't care. Or Sheldon just didn't want his audience to be overextended... ^^

Ich fand die Szene sehr cool, aber man sollte von Sheldon schon erwarten, dass er besser deutsch sprechen kann (weil er halt alles perfekt kann... ^^)
The scene was pretty cool, but I assumed Sheldon to speak German better (cause he can do everything perfectly... ^^) --> eg: the bavarian= der Bayer
But the whole flag thing was crazy, so who cares ^^
