Oh what a wonderful surprise... I' m glad someone in the other states remembers this italian important philosopher, though he was a secondary author.
I personally love his thesis...
Bye, greetings from Italy.

kind of a shame Giordano was only agreeing with Nicolaus Copernicus who died shortly after Giordano was born and was killed by the church for heresy but not just because of his agreement with Nicolaus Copernicus. The teachings are not even banned until 1616. You really do get to see things in a different light once you look them up for yourself. I could have sworn the church killed someone for saying the earth went round the sun.

Its too bad we live in such a closed minded society that produces garbage like yourself. I for one look at all Science not excluding Theology, its the only way to make sure you haven't thought of something that already was thought of and proven in error. Or has been proven correct. This means looking at Muslim thought Catholic thought Christian thought Budist thought Jewish thought and so on. Yes he was murdured back then because thats how they did things.I dont need the likes of you telling me

O go play yourself. You sound like a cunt that cant get enough of herself.

"The only reason most people stay in line and don't commit crimes is out of fear of law enforcement"
People see in others what they see in themselves. You, my friend, are a sociopath. Most people don't care about the law and we do what is right because it is right. Not because some bullies in uniform will lock us in a cage if we don't.

i donno if giordano bruno was an atheist...
he was a religious man himself and i read right now in the book by Yates that he hated humanists ("pedants"). He seems like a real swell dude though

And no true scotsman would commit murder.

@BTIsaac i 'm sorry but you can't compare socialist ideas with stalin...
Have you ever read the writings of Bruno? That man was insane.
Second. Have you considered the consequences of the churches' authority (read the only existing authority in medieval Europe) getting jeopardized in the 16'th century? That would be the modern day equivalent of all legislation and law enforcement getting abolished. The only reason most people stay in line and don't commit crimes is out of fear of law enforcement, and back then, the concept of eternal damnation WAS the law enforcement

@BTIsaac Someone being insane wouldn't justify murdering them. Also, if the church was really the only authority, then that would mean they have an even greater obligation to exercise that authority responsibly, e.g. not executing people for something that shouldn't even be considered a crime. (And really, if "the concept of eternal damnation WAS the law enforcement", then why was all that torture and immolation necessary?)

If the church really wanted to brainwash people into slaves and rule the world, they never would've made a step back from politics, when the need for their drastic methods vanished.
And it's not like they burned witches because they wanted to. The world was crawling with superstitious idiots, who were genuinely afraid of 'black magic'. A priest HAD to advocate occasional witchburns, or he'd risk getting lynched by an angry mob.

@BTIsaac This seems circular. The church *had* to burn witches because these superstitious idiots wanted them to? Well, why were those idiots so superstitious? What made them think, for example, that there are all these witches that need to be burned? Perhaps it was the church's public examples of... burning witches?
