I started going in 66 when i was 6. I now live in Penzance but would travel up to the county ground 3 or4 times a year.
but toniht i was in exeter so i walked to the site and i cried.
If There is a place that has atmosphere its here. now a houing estate. its all so bloody sad.

The County Ground was one of the best, and fastest tracks in the world, it should never have closed, perhaps a larger regular attendance might have helped, but I'll always remember it for the fantastic atmosphere and friendly fans and supporters.

Every Exeter councilor should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this historic track to close.. Everyone watching this clip must join the campaign to bring speedway back to Exeter !

rode my ped there, my uncle (ex rider) died in the stands in sept 1999, thats my childhood.

Still brings a tear to my eye watching this , as it did during the meeting . can understand why the rugby club wanted to move , as their new place is fab , but surely the council could have bought the county ground ? they bailed the footy club out a few years ago

Fingers crossed The Falcons will fly again at Haldon in 2008 and rather than showing an End of Era video will hopefully show a start of a new Era one.
