The Thunderdogs playing 'Bummerman' ~ filmed by independent Danish TV crew in Copenhagen, July 1991.
The Thunderdogs were the house band for the Circus Archaos production "Metal Clown" ~ featuring vocalist Tony D'Amico, with Dan Spanner on sax, Gavin Griffiths on guitar, drummer Jonee Elwood, Seaweed Lennox-Smith on keyboards and bassist Gabrielle Tosti. Paul Chousmer was sound engineer for the Thunderdogs and the circus for the Metal Clown tour.
Taking their name from a 70s cartoon strip by Hunt Emerson (who also did the album cover), the band first released the 3 track "Just after sunrise" 12" EP, which was quickly followed up by 'Thundermental', both released on Doctor Dog in 1991.
This film was made during final rehearsals before the opening night of "Metal Clown" , which played massive shows in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Manchester, Dublin, London and Paris through 1991-92 before running into financial difficulties and sadly parting.
We had many visits from the local police during these rehearsals - apparently due to noise complaints from SAS - the scandinavian airline - the tall building in the background is the hotel where their pilots sleep between flights - they didn't take too kindly to having a rock band playing in the open air next door!
