Sort of.... You can not use recharge capable cells that are greater than 3 Volts each. The 6P Xenon lamp can only handle 6 volts total, and I have not yet heard of any success stories over-driving it.

There are 3.0V recharge capable cells, but I have no first hand experience with these.

Sure... The Lithium Ion cells I use in this video are 3.6Volts, but fresh off the charger they are 4.2V. In the real world, they operate well above 3V for a good ~60% of their discharge cycle.

So these will slam a P60 Xenon LA with a solid 8.4V.

Nope this ones a fixed-beam only. SF makes a beam flip-diffuser for the 6P, that will allow you to instantly go from a moderately tight beam to a pure flood. Its a very useful upgrade to the 6P IMHO.

My co-worker has a lenser P5 1AA and that ones my favorite focus capable beam light.

My personal opinion of the Surefire 6P is that it is an incredible product in its stock form even without the LED drop-ins. Its ability to render colors accurately, having superior build quality in comparison to the competition, being an outstanding mid-range thrower, and a life time warranty puts this product at legendary status. I suggest one check out mdocod's incandescent guide on candlepower forums for what assemblies, and rechargeable batteries are compatible with the 6P. Kickass light!

I have surefire rechargeable batteries which they finally started using. And now I just ordered a P60L 460 lumens module for my 6p.

I know surefire can be expensive but I am drawn to getting a 6P its about same price as a Fenix Tk11 but something keeps telling me to buy it! this cheap led option is pushing me further. Great review and very helpful thanks

    Very nicely explained! Great video!

I can't wait for my 6P to arrive, I ordered it today.

I have a few Fenix lights (TK 11, TK12, LD20, etc.) and they're great, but I'm so looking forward to the Surefire! ;)

I use both 6P and G2 nitrolon with replacement bulbs in CREE R2, giving output of 200-300 lumens in high mode. With 2 x CR123a 3.7v Rechargeable bats (mostly Ultrafire 3.7v 1000 mAh), and 2 bats can last me a long night of patrols and homesearches. Standard SF's bulb is not strong enough (in these 2 models - factory's), with shorter service hours, and short runtime too. Good vid.
