MaineGhostHunters and a local paranormal investigation team collaborate in a joint effort to explore and investigate possible paranormal phenomena at the abandoned Henryton Sanitarium complex in Marriotsville, Maryland. This has been an ongoing project most of which took place in the last quarter of 2008.

Here, the two teams are exploring and investigating the 2nd floor of the building known as the Children's wing, or the nursery.

*********************

You Need To Know:

The grounds of the Henryton have been essentially "condemned", personally, by the top ranking state official in charge of the grounds, due to excessive mold, exposed asbestos, vandalism, violence and gun crimes on the grounds. There have been robberies at gun point resulting in police intervention, and during one particular day while PRRS was on the grounds, there were police scouring the buildings in search of a murder suspect thought to have fled to this location.

More importantly to potential future "visitors", on December 29, 2008 all state and local law enforcement responsible for patrolling the county limits were put on specific alert for trespassers on the grounds of the Henryton, and ordered to act with "zero tolerance". If you are caught on the grounds of the Henryton you will be arrested. State police are now searching the grounds with K9-Units, day and night, without warning or predictability.

Up to late-2008 the Henryton campus was owned and maintained by the State of Maryland Department of Mental Health and Hygiene, but since it is completely surrounded by a State Park, and is abandoned with no plans for future use, the State of Maryland has handed it over to the State Department of Natural Resources. It is slated for demolition and will be replaced with open areas, walking trails, and trees.

What you need to know about the boundary lines around the Henryton Sanitarium complex:

1. Every available parking area around the complex belongs to the Department of Natural resources. (We were told this personally by the Park Ranger) If you are parked in the hunting ground parking lot right next to the Henryton, you must have a Hunting License in plain view or you will be ticketed and they will assume there is someone on the grounds of the Henryton. A call will be made to local law enforcement.

2. The convenient parking area in front of the Henryton gate belongs to the Department of Natural Resources and it has been made explicitly clear to all Hunters that this is a "No Parking" area. A sign has been placed here, and destroyed. However, if you are parked here, bring $$ for the impound because you're getting towed.

3. The parking areas at the trail heads are also part of the State Park. If you are parked here after sunset you will get a ticket. We're from Maine and have spent only a few nights at the Henryton and every single night, bar none, there have been police lights flashing at 1 particular trail head location, after dark. And this was before the local law enforcement was put on high-alert for trespassers of the Henryton.

This message is not a scare tactic. It's a courtesy alert to fellow investigators and urban explorers. Don't go to the Henryton unless you're prepared to be arrested.

You've been warned.
