I've got a '88 K5 with 6'', a pretty hopped up 383 stroker, and a 3 speed manual trans. I was in the garage last night day dreaming about buying an old one ton and swapping the axles, looked it up on youtube and here it is. Keep the shiny side up!!

If I were you I'd stick with the 6.2 Diesel, you get loads of power while remaining somewhat fuel efficient (and you can make a lot of noise without a muffler :P)
However, if you have your heart set on a 454, go for it just don't push it too hard and maintain it well, because (speaking from my fathers experience) we've all gone too far with the mighty 454 and busted either the transmission or a cylinder.
Another drawback to the 454 is the fuel efficiency. Personally I'd stick with the 6.2..

i can tell thats a 454 chevy big block. how many miles does it go on one tank of gas. i want to know because i wanna put a 454 in my military blazer my dad is getting me and make it good at off road, or should i stay with the 6.2 liter diesel and get a turbo kit or something to make it turbo diesel. sorry im new to this stuff

By the Way what engine do you have in the truck, the distorted sound makes it sound like a 454.

That's a Kick ass Truck! I myself am looking for a 1985 - 88 K5 with a 6.2L diesel, I also wish to convert it to a dually!
Anyway, I can't wait to see more videos!
