I couldn't find a version of this that I liked, so I put one together. This Adagio Albinoni wrote, as opposed to the Adagio in G Minor attributed to him, which is wonderful, but was actually written by Remo Giazotto in 1958.

I doubt anyone would call Albinoni a radical, but he did have the benefit of being from a wealthy family, freeing him to compose without having to please a patron.

  • Great piece - please can you tell me which CD it came from?

  • Thanks! Mark, the music is from a collection put out back in 1991 called Meditation: Classical Relaxation, by Delta Music. I strongly recommend it as it has a great many amazing performances by outstandeing artists.

  • Beautiful piece. Do you know who the trumpet player is? His tone is amazing.

  • The trumpet player is the world famous Professor Ludwig Guttler of Germany.

  • I do not have a strong enough command of the English language to adequately describe the beauty of this piece. Simply breathtaking.

  • Thank you! At the risk of sounding self-flattering, I have to agree. Ludwig Guttler has managed to take an instrument that I always thought too harsh and turn it into a soul-touching one.

Aside from what GuydeMypeasant already recommended, you can also find this piece on Volume 5 of 100 Masterpieces of Classical Music.

    Best wishes.

  • is this music available pleeeez. ill pay

  • It's not completely determined whether Albinoni or Giazzoto wrote Adagio in G minor, but for sure Giazzoto copyrighted the composition. Supposedly he added over a base composed by albinoni, but perhaps it's entirely Giazzoto's composition. Why would he say it's albinoni's? btw this has happened to other songs as well

  • Absolutely gorgeous piece. I had the cd with it and I lost it. I had been going crazy trying to find it. Thank you for posting.

  • A perfect piece. Thanks for post.

  • Simply beautiful.

  • I had the Meditation:Classical Relaxation Series. I believe this was CD #2, which was my favorite! I let a friend borrow it about 14 yrs ago, to listen to this very piece. Long story short, we lost touch, and I only remembered this was composed by Albinoni, and titled Adagio for trumpet/organ. I searched numerous music sites, but never could find this exact movement I'd originally fell in love with. Thank you not only for the video/music, but for the entire name of this work! Instant favorite!
