They say he was the Red Elvis, but I prefer to think that Elvis was the imperialist Reed

I love this song, I always listen to it on my good old "Opereta"

@daetoya1 Он был обманут Хрущёвым. Однако когда был СССР Израиль не разваливался на части как сейчас.

He IS a HERO. As long as there are opressed people and there is injustice, and after, he will be a hero.

Look at the funny outcome. the song was recorded in Moscow in the 80s . the musicians many of them look Jewish probably they all now in Israel since the 90s voting for Lieberman .the young Palestinians are now fat officials in the Palestinian authority . And the conflict go's on

"we shall all lay down our arms, peace for all in Palestine" What a bastard.......The most underrated person is the history of the world. Someone needs to do a movie about his life.
-
@Straccio Dean Reed always wanted to help the people to live in freedom and peace
-
@Straccio I think in the same way. He was there and he saw how the people are treated and he wanted to help the people (not only there) to live in peace and freedom. It's not against jewish. It's against war.

Miał swoje poglądy których bronił. W Polsce był popularny za piękny głos. Dla mnie jest wspomnieniem młodości i niezapomnianym wykonawcą zaangażowanym politycznie a czy w słusznej sprawie zobaczymy.

I love this wonderful song. I would like to buy a Dean Reed CD someday!

I wouldn't say so.He had his opinion and stance about the IsraeliPalestinian conflict but he was not an antisemite, this song does not carry any antisemite messages in my view.

I hate communists. They are evil

I will be very happy if you could tell me where exactly in this song you see signs of communism - I have put the lyrics on the page;writing inadequate comments is one thing, but supporting them with arguments is far more difficult...

I have to admit this song lacks any signs of communism, except for historical circumstances that surrounded Dean's concerts behind the wall..

You may not agree with me but I think very few songs of Dean Reed are explicitly socialistic - most of his political songs talk against oppression in general - however,it is also true that the oppression was especially severe in socialist countries whose policy he was defending - it is this controversy which makes him so disputed, loved and hated by people.
