Alphastates released their debut album, Made from Sand on April 2, 2004, and since then, they have been winning people over the length and breadth of the country. Their live performances are establishing them as real contenders on the Irish music scene and they are living up to the potential shown in their first ep's - Sometimes, Conversations with Robots and Good Stuff (Hot Press single of the Fortnight). Catherine Dowling and Gerry Horan formed Alphastates in April 2001. The two friends saw the potential to add an interesting mix of musical styles to Dowlings addictive, melodic songs.

Their sound caught the ear of Karl Odlum, who joined the team for some time as producer and band member. Stevie Kavanagh joined a short time later around the time of the release of their second ep, Conversations with Robots. The last addition to the lineup was Mike O'Dowd, who joined in November 2003. Since their humble beginnings, Alphastates have played at Witnness twice and Oxegen last summer, shared stages with Sinead O' Connor, Cat Power, The Beta Band and Throwing Muses, had their music aired on both TV and Film productions and have built up a strong fanbase around the country.

One of the men behind U2's famous Elevation remix, Chris Agnew of Agnelli and Nelson fame, remixed Addicted and it found itself on high rotation amongst both national and regional radio stations as well as on the TV series The Big Bow Wow. David Holmes has also requested to permission to remix some of their work.

Certainly one of the most original and distinctive acts to emerge in recent times, Alphastates have been gaining a reputation as an unmissable live band since the release of their debut album 'Made from Sand' which is distributed by RMG.
