You have to think of this from an evolutionary point of view; every feature of every organism has evolved to be that way for a reason. The truth is that have a collective intelligence would not give plants a survival advantage. And if this "intra-terrestrial intelligence" did exist, why do we then see plants competing against each other?

ever watched a high speed film of a vine grow? have you seen flytrap plants?, there is even a plant that has something that looks like a fishing pole. there was a very recent study which talked about plants making sounds and communicating, so he may be on to something. there is much more than we dont know about nature than what we do know. i think there is plenty to support that plants are sentient beings. the brain's main purpose is for movement. plants do not move, so they dont need a brain.
