For the Stand Mode try putting the Kindle inside it. The weight might be the key there. Overall, nice video. I hope I get one of these and a Fire for Christmas.

Yes, the MicroShell case is more stable with the Kindle Fire installed. The weight of the Kindle makes it a bit more stable. It's still not the best design. The groove could be a little deeper to provide a better edge for the cover to rest on. I think it is the best case available for the Kindle Fire...but not the best stand if that is your priority.
