  • Nope. Wasn't the box.

I've blown up dozens without the box and they all let loose at between 31K and 37K RPM.

  • What kind of motor is this ? I love it's sound after the CD has exploded !

  • @ve2zzz

It's a 40,000 RPM griding spindle. Used in machine/grinding shops.

In person the CD going off sounds exactly like a baloon popping.

  • what was spinning the cd it seamed to be capable of high rpms

  • It was a natioinal Geographic CD I think. They all spin and explode at about the same speed from our experiments.

  • HE DID IT

  • damn centrifugal force, you scary

  • but why does it explode???

  • time travel failed

  • skit!!!

  • it goes damaged because the carton contact the cd :(

  • do that with a Justin Bieber :D

  • At 30,000 angular velocity = just over 3000rad/sec

    Disc radius = 0.06m

    A = w^2*r ~ 10,000,000 * 0.06 = 600,000m/s^2

60 thousand gs on the outside of the disc

  • omg is the box ok?

  • @globogs centrifugal force.
