Young designer Phil Crook won a competition for innovative furniture design in 2009. This is the story of how his sofa 'design for compact living' was upholstered. The intricate and innovative shape posed some interesting challenges.
though I think its an ugly green it takes a fair bit of skill to design and envision furniture, don't think the design is very marketable however and it would be quite expensive even though its designed for people who would have a small place ie not a whole lot of income.
Like he said they have to make it more manufacture-able.
Looks really uncomfortable though, I have to say if I went to a friends house and they had one of those ... well I wouldn't go over there often if I had to sit in that.
Oh yeah, I would love to spend a bunch of money on an ugly, uncomfortable couch. Where do I sign up?
Maybe instead of spending extra money on a ugly, crappy couch, the couple this douche bag envisions would buy it could maybe get a bigger place and a nice couch. Anyway, this couch would be a pain to move, and it looks cheap, and it looks like it sucked making it, especially since the reward was a piece of shit. What could these other designs have been like that he won?

I quite like the idea behind his design. The whole sofa can be split into two functioning chairs that also happen to be part of a three seater Sofa.
I deal Homes is a great showcase for you're ideas mate, I've been there and i loved it! :)
Hooray for Brit Talent!
