MCDONALD 600 VAN NESS AVE
SAN FRANCISCO

BIKINI-CLAD PETA BEAUTIES 'SCALDED ALIVE' AT SAN FRANCISCO MCDONALD'S
Group Debuts New Billboard in the City With Protest That Shows How Birds Are Killed for Fast-Food Giant

San Francisco — Two PETA members in red bikinis will be crammed together in a tank of "bloody" water with the message "McDonald's Scalds Chicks; to Death" on Thursday to protest the abuse that chickens suffer in slaughterhouses that supply the fast-food chain. The protest coincides with the San Francisco debut of PETA's brand-new McCruelty billboard at Sixth and Brannan streets. The billboard shows a chicken with a cut, bleeding throat hanging upside down from the Golden Arches next to the tagline "McCruelty: i'm hatin' it."

Date: Thursday, July 2
Time: 12 noon to 1 p.m.
Place: McDonald's, 600 Van Ness Ave. , San Francisco

McDonald's U.S. chicken suppliers currently use a slaughter method that often causes birds to suffer broken bones and broken wings and exposes them to other abuses. Birds have their throats cut while they are still conscious and are often scalded to death in tanks of hot water. PETA is urging McDonald's to require its suppliers to adopt a less cruel slaughter method called "controlled-atmosphere killing" (CAK), which eliminates some of the worst abuses that birds suffer. In 2005, McDonald's produced a report concluding that CAK offers significant animal welfare benefits over the conventional slaughter method, but the company continues to allow its suppliers to break birds' bones and scald them to death.

"McDonald's has refused to lift a finger to stop its American suppliers from scalding chickens to death and abusing them in other hideous ways," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "McDonald's customers across the country are now saying, 'I'm hatin' it,' every time they spot the Golden Arches."

  • I AM A HUGE MCCRUELTY SUPPORTER!

  • People will never stop eating meat. PETA must be realistic in what they ask of people. Yes, the chickens are still going to die, but if there is a way of doing it that reduces pain and suffering, why not do it? Using CAK is better than not using CAK. :)

  • let's put this in a balance here livestock (includes chickens, cows, pigs, lambs, and ducks sometimes.) HEAVY!!! that's pretty much what some people need to eat and also sell if their working at the farms that feed and produce. now the need to make a big deal on how McDonald's chokes their chicken MEANINGLESSLY LIGHT. no one is gonna give a shit about "what to know how McDonald's kills your chicken?" to fuck with this im getting myself some fucking ribs? but that's just my opinion.

  • @Striker1586 and what was the point of that oh so ignorant comment?

  • Animals are here to sate my hunger. How they die is unimportant to me as long as they end up on my plate, cooked to perfection. Or not cooked at all, I like a little blood. Better yet, just leave them alive. That way when I eat them from the feet up I can watch their terrified and tortured expressions. Mmmmmmmm....

  • @cheesefries91 I am a HUGE MCDONALDS SUPPORTER!

  • OMG she talks about the European leading the way. "IF YOU DONT LIKE IT....GET OUT"

  • @KymcoScooters Where they hell were you?

  • For all you haters. Go fuck yourself!

  • @ihartkookiez99 realy ? oh my god but someone said in the vido that in europe they didn't torture the chickens ? i don't know i know that this had to stop

  • I recently took a trip in the USA and was shocked to see the number of FATASS and potbellied people walking around malls and supermarkets. I also saw lots of people with mobility problems on the streets. For a nation that sees animals no better than trash and murders them for their unnecessary lust for meat, no wonder half the population have medical problems before senior age. And no wonder the nation is paying through the nose for healthcare. What comes around, goes around.

  • @7flowerd it happens everywhere on the planet except the uk
