How strong a power head do you think someone would need for 4 columbian sharks in a 77 gal tank? I know they need current but how much? Nice fish btw.

Man, I so need some sand. Just got mine last night and I have really small little rocks on the bottom.

do they eventuly need to bee in brackish or full marin

How much do these cost for one of them at the pet store?

actually you can do the change from freshwater to brackish in just one day. their natural environment is a mixture of salt and freshwater thus they adapt quickly to salinity changes. you must however mix salt into the aquarium water but in a separate container and then slowly add it back into the aquarium. make sure to use a hydrometer to check the specific gravity after adding each time though so that you don't over do it. mine was about 4 inches when i did this and the SG is 1.014

@danielbui23 yes sounds good can't wait to see your beautiful tank and columbians

@TELABOY314 OK, Sounds good. Currently I have Aragonite Sand, Lava Rock and Holy Rock in the tank so my ph is high enough for Brakish/Marine. I was planning on Live Rock but not Live Sand since I have the Aragonite Sand. Is that wise?
@1peiceaznboi i bought them for $5 a piece at petland

@moormandrm yea they first start off in fresh water then once they get like 4-5 inches you slowly convert the water to brakish if not they skin start pilling and turning white then they eventually die. so sad

@st3934 yea sand is cool and more natural looking I love it for brakish plus it helps buff the water ph. also i noticed that sand keeps the water crystal clear

are they a little small to be brackish? Mine is 12 inches and still in freshwaters but with high ph. Just curious because next week I am going start to do 5 gallon water changes through out the week until I get brackish levels then next month it will be full Marine salinity. How are they doing now after 6 months?

@danielbui23 Yes you are right my tank wasnt fully brakish yet at the time so I just put them in my 200 gallon fresh water inell they get a little bigger like 8in. but a month is to fast... start by adding 2 tablespoons per 5 gallons every week then the next week add 3 tablespoons and keep doing that tell you get to 7 tablespoons per 5 gallons once a week. and the evaporated water should be replaced with fresh water. make sure you add some live rock to, to help buff and live sand A MUST
