This video shows how to utilize UA's DSP-optimized but great-sounding SE versions of the Neve 1073 EQ, Neve 1081 EQ, Neve 33609 compressor, and UA 1176.

  • The band is the Pearl Alley Band from Santa Cruz, CA. And yes, this entire mix was done with one UAD card. The SE versions of the plug-ins have many aspects of the original algorithm, but some changes were made to keep the CPU usage down. They still sound very very good.

  • Great stuff, go UA! This is cool for basic concepts using comp and eq, but the sound quality is basically destroyed in the u-tube conversion, it's like an mp3 compression nitemare. Ugh, call me an an audiofile geek, whatever, I am.

  • Thanks for your comments, but all UA You Tube videos have a higher res version on the UA webzine, please check the "about this video" box in the upper right.

  • what exactly is a uad card? Is it a high quality sound card? Forgive me for mmy ignorance.

  • If there is no HQ button under the video, add this to the url in the address bar and refresh:

    &fmt=18

  • and here.. sound is mono! :(

  • Hey UniversalAudio, do you prefer the 1073 for guitars and vocs and the 1081 for drums and bass? Which do you find more usefull for overall mixes, I assume the 1081.

  • very helpful!

  • I love how on the A/B comparison the CPU monitor shows it about to tap out. The joys of mixing in the box...

  • mixing with ONE card? I think not..

  • jeez man! what band is this? sounds like some angry funk band from... germany?

    any info?

  • I LOVE the UAD stuff and what it does for my music. I have to say that these sounds and the demos do not do them justice. Maybe they were going for a novice home studio sound. If I went to a studio and heard those sounds i'd leave or get my own sounds. The videl does show the ideas but again the sound quality is bad on the original tracks.

Don't let that keep you away from the best mixing effects in the world.
