This is a video I put together back when I still had my first YT account, in honor of the men who saved the world on June 6th, 1944. Historian Stephen Ambrose used to say that the 20th Century can be divided in two parts, one containing everything that happened before and leading up to D-Day, and the other containing everything that happened after.

Together with British and Canadian formations, troops from the United States Army executed the largest amphibious assault in the history of warfare, and established the beachhead from which freedom would spread to the rest of Europe. These men earned and deserve the ever-lasting gratitude and affection of their posterity, and it is my high privilege to post this in their honor.

As a former Soldier, I have experienced the hardships and the very tough impositions military service brings, and that makes me keenly appreciate and admire these magnificent men and what they must have gone through. On this 67th anniversary of their deeds, I think they certainly deserve to be remembered.

Thanks for watching!

  • I am from Germany and it makes me so sad that our country unleashed this brutal war in which so many people died and I really hope that one day the world may forgive what our ancestors have done ...

There is just one thing I'd like to add ... let's remember all soldiers that fought and died during these 6 horrible years, no matter where they're from.

    Nice work on this video!

  • @ThePullplayer Great point! President Harry S. Truman used to say that in war, bravery knows no borders, and I agree with him. During my time in the U.S. Army, I lived in your country long enough to realize that today's Germany is a very, very different country from the one where Hitler was able to rise to power in during the 1930's. Today's Germany is a magnanimous, civilized, gallant nation that powers the engine of modern Europe in its push towards the future. Thank you for watching!!

  • May God Bless you for this awesome video.

  • May you be blessed as well, and thank you for following my deeds here on YouTube, my friend... };-)

  • I almost started to cry when I saw this..

as ThePullplayer said: Let's remember all soldiers that fought and died during these 6 horrible years, no matter where they're from.

June 6th, 1944 was probably the worst day in many of the soldiers' lives who fought..

Great job, and may God bless you for making this movie!

  • My husband served with the 101st, flying Chinooks in Vietnam. At Ft. Campbell, he was in charge if a static display of a Chinook and a WW11 vet was looking at the aircraft. My husband asked if he would like a tour and he said no. He just had one question. "If I can answer it, I will, Sir" The question was is the 101st still as screwed up now as they were in War11?" The answer, "Yes sir, I am proud to say we are. We try not to mess with success", Thank you for all you did for us.

  • Thank you very much for posting this. I appreciate the visuals, the music ("SPR"?), and simply just the thought and effort it took to put together. I have been posting D-Day related information to my FB account since last night. Do many of my FB friends really care? Not apparently. Do I? YES, which is the reason I do it, and will continue to do it, on this anniversary day as well as other holidays, such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Thank you, also, for your service.

  • To glorify war is to deny humanity. To glorify the warrior is to accept the human condition.
